Department of Commerce is one of the oldest
department in the Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya, Port Blair. It
has been established in the year 1975 with just 02 students. The department
has been growing day by day and year after year in a very well to do manner.
When the organizations, business institution etc., were interested in recruiting
the commerce graduates, the awareness about importance of the commerce education
among the parents and students, teachers etc., started increasing. The number
of enrollments has been increasing every year from Thirty to Forty and Forty
to Fifty and from Fifty to presently Sixty. The Department has been promoted
to Post Graduate Level by opening M.com Courses with the total enrollment
strength of 15 in each year. There is a heavy rush every year for the admission
into both B.Com and M.Com.
